At school we've been learning about the election because it's coming up. I learned that there are around 120 members of parliament. (MPs) and that representatives are chosen every three years. New Zealand is divided into 70 geographical areas called electorates or seats and each one is represented by a MP. I also learnt that you get two votes. One is the party vote and it's to choose who is the government. The second vote is the electorate vote, that is how the MP of your electorate is chosen. But the most important vote is the party vote. Elections are always held on a Saturday, which is called polling day. The votes are cast in secret in polling booths which are usually in places such as schools and church halls.
That is all I can remember about the Elections.
